Adore

From November 13, 2008 through June 2014, I worshiped God at the piano in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church sanctuary in San Ramon, California, with songs such as these, for the sole reason that our Lord is worthy of being worshiped (and promises to respond with great blessings for us and our communities when we do). His peace invades the atmosphere. His Spirit whispers answers to our deepest questions. His Truth is etched on our hearts. We are refreshed and filled with joy—His joy (which is our strength). Beginning on Ascension Thursday, May 2010, this special worship time in song was during the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Though not a Catholic project, Adore was inspired in part by my Catholic heritage. The prayers said at Mass are exquisitely beautiful and Scriptural. However, sometimes we have heard them so often that we no longer pay attention to what we are praying. Many of Adore’s songs are based on Mass prayers. None of these songs are meant to be used during Mass. Their purpose is devotional, so that through the music these prayers gain a freshness which causes joy and excitement to rise up in our hearts whenever we encounter them.

As with every other worship project, Adore is not about my voice or promoting a persona. It is about worshiping the One True God. I compose and sing because our Lord asks me to. I also know what He promises if we will worship. I am dedicated to the release of original, vertical Christian worship and praise music which exalts God, while addressing Him personally, reverently and prayerfully. Each song revels in the truth of who God is and what He promises. The focus of the music is to lift our minds and hearts to our Lord in all circumstances because He promises to inhabit our praise, drawing closer with all that He is, when we simply lay down our burdens, forsake worry and choose to adore Him instead.
